Il diavolo veste Prada prende di mira il mondo dell'alta moda e dell'editoria del settore, in primis Vogue America, Star System è, invece, una satira assai più feroce e assai più divertente del mondo delle celebrities e di riviste come (ahinoi!) Vanity Fair America (la pellicola è tratta infatti dal bestseller di Toby Young, Un alieno a Vanity Fair.
Il film diretto da Robert Weide vanta anch'esso un cast di tutto rispetto a partire dal talentuoso Simon Pegg (L'alba dei morti dementi; Hot Fuzz), spalleggiato da Kirsten Dunst (Elizabethtown; Spider-Man; Maria Antonietta), Gillian Anderson (X-Files; L'ultimo re di Scozia), Jeff Bridges (Iron Man) e Megan Fox quasi nella parte di se stessa. Quando il film fu girato l'attrice (oggi considerata tra le più sexy del Pianeta) era una perfetta sconosciuta e ancora oggi, diciamocelo, deve dimostrare di possedere del vero talento.
Star System parla dell'esperienza di Sidney Young (Simon Pegg), un ambizioso e assai ingenuo giornalista inglese, come redattore presso un autorevole magazine americano. Il nostro, tuttavia, fin dal primo giorno di lavoro compie una serie di passi falsi e gaffes per cui è quasi un miracolo che non venga licenziato all'istante. Per di più Sidney ha la pretesa di realizzare veri servizi giornalistici per una testata dove, invece, si fa carriera confezionando ad arte markette. Quando il nostro finalmente si adegua all'andazzo generale, si trasforma in un cinico markettaro di successo e diventa intimo di Sophie Maes (Megan Fox), la nuova oca supersexy di Hollywood, allevata nella scuderia della potente agente interpetata egregiamente da Gillian Anderson. A Sophie, giovane e promettente stella del cinema, mancano solo la consacrazione di un servizio sulla rivista per cui lavora Sidney Young e quella di un prestigioso premio cinematografico, al quale è candidata per l'interpretazione in un b-movie su Madre Teresa di Calcutta, l'esilarante Teresa: The Making Of A Saint, ciliegina sulla torta di una commedia a tratti demenziale, ma da non perdere affatto.

We are going to post this blog incomplete, we don't have time to explain everything so we will do it later. But we needed to get these pictures posted before we move on. We were eating dinner at Basil's Bar in Mustique and who was stiiting next to us? David Duchovny and Tia Leoni (notice the tatooed rings on their hands...we think they are newly back together.) We literally danced two feet from them and stood behind them in the buffet dinner! This picture was taken without their knowing it, thanks to Keenan taking pictures of Keith and I (and Joan and Peter)dancing. We hurried to put this on for you and will finish our blogging later.

Showtime's "Californication" has beefed up its cast for its upcoming
third season, adding Kathleen Turner, former "OC" star Peter Gallagher
and "Numbers" and "Rescue Me" regular Diane Farr.
Turner is set
to play a lit agent who has a thing for David Duchovny's skirt-chasing
lead, while Gallagher will play a university dean who tangles with
Duchovny. Farr will play a sex-crazed grad student.
"Californication" is set to bow its third season in the fall.
Stephens and Ecclestone join Anderson in A Doll’s House

Toby Stephens, Tara Fitzgerald and Christopher Eccleston are to join Gillian Anderson in the Donmar Warehouse’s forthcoming production of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House.
As revealed last year, Anderson, best known for playing Scully in TV’s The X Files, will take the role of Nora in the production, which is a new version of the play by Zinnie Harris.
Stephens will play Thomas, while Fitzgerald will take the part of Christine Lyle and Eccleston will play Neil Kelman.
Other cast members include Anton Lesser as Dr Rank and Maggie Wells as Annie.
The production is being directed by Kfir Yefet and designed by Anthony Ward.
